Attendance Increases For Non-Presidential Caucus

Nearly 200 Story County Republicans gathered at four locations across the county to conduct a non-presidential year caucus.

Attendees in Ames heard from both elected officials and representatives of Republican candidates.  Congressman Steve King concluded the night with a fiery speech that brought delegates to their feet.

Republican Party Of Iowa chair AJ Spiker also addressed the crowd.  Spiker is an Ames resident who was participating in his neighborhood caucus.  Spiker observed that the 2014 crowd exceeded the attendance at the last non-presidential caucus.

Attendees elected members of the Story County Republican Central Committee, which will meet in February.  Delegates to the County Convention, set for March, were also selected.

A large contingent of college Republicans from Iowa State University was also in attendance to observe the process.
