Nevada, IA – The Republican Party of Story County announced the theme of the seventh annual Wendy Jensen Memorial Chili Supper: “Show Some Respect: Bringing Civility to Political Discourse.” The evening will feature a panel discussion on civil discourse with Story County Supervisor Rick Sanders, Boone City Councilman and Republican State Central Committeman Gary Nystrom, and Nevada City Councilman Brett Barker. This special event will take place at Gatherings in downtown Nevada on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. Special guests for the evening will be Mrs. Barbara Grassley, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, State Senator Bill Dix, Congressman Steve King, and local Story County Republican candidates.
“We are looking forward to a new and unique focus with this dinner,” explained Brett Barker, Story County GOP Chairman. “Wendy was an incredible lady and we will be honoring her legacy by discussing how we can bring civility back to our discourse in this toxic political climate.”
The dinner is an annual tradition in memory of Wendy Jensen. Wendy selflessly dedicated countless hours volunteering for Republican causes from 2008-2011.
Early Bird Tickets for the dinner are available on Eventbrite. A limited number will be available at the door.
