Lincoln Highway GOP Dinner

LincolnlogoA new and unique multi-county Lincoln Highway GOP Dinner was announced today.
Focused on “Celebrating What Connects Us,” this event is sponsored by the Republican Parties of Boone, Story, and Marshall Counties, the ISU College Republicans, and the Republican Women of Central Iowa. The dinner will take place at the Gateway Center in Ames on Saturday, March 24 with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. In addition to two panel discussions of elected officials, United States Senator Joni Ernst will provide a keynote address.
Confirmed elected officials attending include US Senator Joni Ernst, Governor Kim Reynolds, Auditor of State Mary Mosiman, Secretary of State Paul Pate, Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, Senator Jeff Edler, Representatives Dave Deyoe, Rob Bacon, Chip Baltimore, and Dean Fisher, Story County Supervisors Rick Sanders and Marty Chitty, Story County Treasurer Renee Twedt, Story County Recorder Stacie Herridge, and Marshall County Supervisor Bill Patten. Additional speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
“We are thrilled to be able to celebrate our Republican connections with our neighbors,” said Story County Chairman Brett Barker. “We are looking forward to highlighting the efforts of our Republican elected officials and getting to know those from neighboring counties and districts.”

County Convention

The Republican Party of Story County Convention will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 9:00 AM at the Talent Factory located at 1114 6th Street in Nevada.

The Story County Convention will conduct the following business:
1. Elect 49 Delegates and 49 Alternate Delegates to the District Convention and State Convention.
2. Create a County Platform
3. Elect District Convention Committee Members

Please note the following important items:
Registration for the county convention will open at 8:00 am. Registration will close at 8:45 am so that alternates may be seated as necessary and the convention may begin promptly at 9:00 am.
Anyone interested in being a delegate to the district and state conventions MUST bring $50 on the day of the county convention in order to be certified as a delegate.

The convention will be called to order by Jeremy Davis, who will serve as convention chair. Brandon Lee of the Republican Party of Story County Central Committee will serve as convention secretary.
Please also note that amendments to the proposed Story County Republican platform must be
submitted to the Credentials Committee prior to the opening of the Convention. Amendments must be typed or printed legibly and signed by at least ten delegates from three different precincts prior to submission.

February 5th Caucus Announcement

The 2018 Precinct Caucuses will be held Monday, February 5, 2018, 7:00 P.M. at 4 locations listed below for the 43 precincts within Story County:

  1. Elect 2 persons, Republican residents of the precinct, to serve on the County Central Committee.
  2. Elect Delegates and alternate delegates to the Story County Republican Convention to be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, 9:00 A.M. at the Talent Factory, 1114 6th St, Nevada, IA 50201. The number of delegates to be elected is listed above.
  3. Propose and vote on Planks to send to Story County Convention.

DONATION DRIVE IN COLLABORATION WITH THE ANNUAL STORY COUNTY GOP CHILI SUPPER

The Republican Party of Story County is encouraging attendees of the eighth annual Wendy Jensen Memorial Chili Supper, as well as the community at large, to donate to local food pantries this season. The Republican Party will accept donations at the December 9th event located at Oakwood Road Church in Ames.

Donations will be accepted at Oakwood Road Church at 4:00 p.m. until the event starts at 5:00 p.m.

Large quantities of items purchased as cases is encouraged. Suggested donations include the following. Non-perishable foods such as: cereals, crackers, canned meats, pasta sauces, peanut butters, dry noodles, dry food mixes, canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned soups, canned beans. Personal care items: toilet paper, bar of soap, shampoo or deodorant.

CONGRESSMAN ADAM KINZINGER (R-IL) TO HEADLINE ANNUAL STORY COUNTY GOP CHILI SUPPER

Ames, IA – The Republican Party of Story County announced today that Illinois Congressman Adam Kingzinger will be the keynote speaker for the eighth annual Wendy Jensen Memorial Chili Supper. This special event will take place at Oakwood Road Church in Ames on Saturday, December 9th with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. State Auditor Mary Mosiman will also be speaking and additional speaker announcements are expected.

Congressman Kinzinger was first elected to Congress at the age of 32 and is currently serving his fourth term in the United States House of Representatives. Prior to being elected to Congress, Kinzinger served in the Air Force in both Iraq and Afghanistan.  Currently serving as a Deputy Republican Whip at the age of 39, Congressman Kinzinger is one of the youngest Members of Congress and was named ‘A Republican Role Model for 2017’ by the Washington Post. His top priorities include strengthening U.S. energy policy and making our nation less reliant on foreign resources as well as bolstering the strength of our national security – both at home and abroad.

“Congressman Kinzinger is a rising star in the Republican Party,” said Chairman Brett Barker. “Our Wendy Jensen Memorial Chili Supper is a very special event and we looking forward to hearing from Congressman Kinzinger.”

Governor Adam Gregg have been added to the speaking line-up for their upcoming Judge Joseph Story Dinner. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) will be the keynote speaker. This special annual dinner will take place at Gatherings in Nevada on Friday, July 7, 2017 with doors opening at 5:00 p.m.

“We are thrilled to have Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Gregg with us on July 7,” said Brett Barker, Story County GOP Chairman. “Story County Republicans are looking forward to hearing about their vision to build a better Iowa.”

The dinner is an annual tradition to celebrate Judge Joseph Story. Judge Story served on the United States Supreme Court from 1811-1845 and is the namesake of Story County.

Senator Ben Sasse was elected to the United States Senate in 2014 and has quickly become one of the rising stars of the Republican Party. Wendy Jensen Memorial Chili Supper

Nevada, IA – The Republican Party of Story County announced the theme of the seventh annual Wendy Jensen Memorial Chili Supper: “Show Some Respect: Bringing Civility to Political Discourse.” The evening will feature a panel discussion on civil discourse with Story County Supervisor Rick Sanders, Boone City Councilman and Republican State Central Committeman Gary Nystrom, and Nevada City Councilman Brett Barker.  This special event will take place at Gatherings in downtown Nevada on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. Special guests for the evening will be Mrs. Barbara Grassley, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, State Senator Bill Dix, Congressman Steve King, and local Story County Republican candidates.

LOCAL REPUBLICANS ANNOUNCE GRAND OPENING OF AMES OFFICE

AMES, IA – The Republican Party of Story County has announced the grand opening of the local Victory Office located at 1421 South Bell Avenue Suite 108 in Ames. The Victory Office is a partnership of all levels of the Republican Party and Republican campaigns and is a critical component of local election efforts. The Victory Office will serve as a hub for volunteers and campaign efforts in Story County.

The Grand Opening Celebration will include a ribbon cutting, free pizza and refreshments, and feature an appearance by Trump Campaign Iowa Co-Chair Tana Goertz. Anyone interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities in Story County is encouraged to attend.
